What we'll explore

As leaders, it can be tempting to step in, solve problems and provide the answers, particularly when we know we can help.

The challenge is that always being the person with the answer can unintentionally create dependence rather than helping others grow.

In this interactive workshop, we'll explore how to use more of a coaching approach in everyday leadership conversations.

 We'll explore:

  • The difference between managing, mentoring and coaching
  • Why listening is one of the most valuable leadership skills
  • How to resist the urge to jump in and 'fix'

What you'll take away

Good coaching doesn't require complicated models or having all the answers. Often, it's about slowing down, staying curious and asking a better question.

You'll discover how to:

  • Recognise when to manage, mentor or coach
  • Listen more generously
  • Use simple, open questions to help others think for themselves
  • Avoid some of the common pitfalls that can get in the way of good coaching conversations

Put it in to practice

Knowing about coaching is one thing. Experiencing a different kind of conversation is another.

During the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to practise asking questions, listening and resisting the temptation to offer advice or solutions.

 You'll leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of your own leadership style
  • Some simple questions you can use straight away
  • One practical action to bring more coaching into your everyday conversations
